Decluttering your home may seem like a daunting experience as we all collect more and more belongings day after day. Lets give your home a decluttering makeover which will make your house have more space and will de-stress the brain at the same time! Here are our top tips:
A place for everything
Everything in your home should have it’s own place. If you can’t find a place for it or you don’t have a place, do you really need or want the item? Life is much easier when you know exactly where to find an item if your home is not cluttered.
Can you live without it?
Many of us hold on to things that we don’t use or need, why? We often can’t explain it! Here are a few questions you can ask yourself next time you stumble across this dilemma. Have you used or worn the item in the past 6 months? If yes, keep it. If no, throw it. If something no longer fits you or you lifestyle, get rid of it. Ask yourself if you would buy the item today if you saw it in the shop. If answered yes, keep it. If no, get rid of it. These little questions will really help you to get rid of a lot of items which you may have stored a long time ago without realising.
Get rid of multiple items
Try to get rid of multiple items in your house, even if it’s as small as charging leads (we all have plenty of these!) just try and get rid of them. Multiple items can just clutter space, try and get rid of much as you can!
Clear out throughout the year
We accumulate more things throughout the year, try and have a seasonal clear out to keep on top of the clutter. It will get easier in time for you to do it more often as you will recognise what you use and what you no longer use. You could do a car boot sale to make a little bit of extra cash or you could always donate it your things to charity shops.
